Folds of Honor Golf Bag Honoring Maj. Steven Plumhoff
In December, Notre Dame men’s golfers Hunter Ostrom, Davis Chatfield and Palmer Jackson represented the Irish at The Patriot All-America Golf Tournament. Each golfer played in honor of a fallen or severely injured soldier by carrying a golf bag bearing the name of a soldier.
The trio of Irish golfers received a card with the soldier’s story, so they can be familiar with who that person was, what they represented and how they were killed or wounded in action. At the conclusion of the tournament, the golf bags were shipped to the players’ schools and now being auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while in active service.
This bag was used by Hunter Ostrom and signed by all of the golfers that he played with during the tournament.
Hunter Ostrom honored Maj. Steven Plumhoff of the U.S. Air Force, who hailed from Neshanic Station, New Jersey. Plumhoff was assigned to the 58th Operations Support Squadron, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, and served during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. On November, 2003, Major Plumhoff three airmen and one soldier died in a MH-53M helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
