Folds of Honor Golf Bag Honoring Staff Sgt. Kevin M. Pape
In December, Notre Dame men’s golfers Hunter Ostrom, Davis Chatfield and Palmer Jackson represented the Irish at The Patriot All-America Golf Tournament. Each golfer played in honor of a fallen or severely injured soldier by carrying a golf bag bearing the name of a soldier.
The trio of Irish golfers received a card with the soldier’s story, so they can be familiar with who that person was, what they represented and how they were killed or wounded in action. At the conclusion of the tournament, the golf bags were shipped to the players’ schools and now being auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while in active service.
This bag was used by Davis Chatfield and signed by all of the golfers that he played with during the tournament.
Davis Chatfield honored Staff Sgt. Kevin M. Pape of the U.S. Army, who hailed from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Pape was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield based in Georgia and served during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. On Nov. 30, 2010, SSG Pate died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire in Kunar province, Afghanistan.
